The opportunities and challenges in the field of mechanical engineering technology are diverse and virtually unlimited. Mechanical Engineering Technology involves the design, analysis, manufacture and operations of a wide variety of mechanical components and systems.<\/p>\n<p>While there are a number of disciplines within mechanical engineering, some of the major areas are thermal power, materials engineering, design engineering, and manufacturing engineering. At SIMT the mechanical engineering technology program is designed to prepare graduate students in many applied fields, including thermal power, emissions controls, design, structural analysis, automatic controls, fluid dynamics and emerging areas in alternative energy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and mechanical engineering technology.<\/li>\n<li>Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.<\/li>\n<li>Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, ethical, health and safety, and manufacturability.<\/li>\n<li>Function on multidisciplinary teams.<\/li>\n<li>Identify, formulate, and solve mechanical design engineering problems.<\/li>\n<li>Develop an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.<\/li>\n<li>Broaden education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.<\/li>\n<li>Use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Career Prospects:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Product Design<\/li>\n<li>Power engineering in the design and production of electricity-producing systems<\/li>\n<li>Industries dealing with fuel processing, alternative fuels, fuel handling, transportation and storage.<\/li>\n<li>Design and build systems that control or utilize flow, such as pumps, turbines, compressors, valves, pipelines and fluid systems<\/li>\n<li>Solar energy collectors and new and innovative ways to utilize solar energy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Program Structure &amp;
